The International Olympic Committee (IOC)’s announcement of new standards around Olympics events must set a high benchmark for the world of sport to clean up its act on human and labour rights and ensure major sporting events are free from corruption, say leading non-governmental organisations (NGOs), trade unions and sports fans groups ahead of a key IOC meeting in Monaco next week.
The federation of Danish Football Fan Clubs (DFF) – Danske Fodbold Fanklubber – is a Danish umbrella organization for Danish supporters and members of FSE. This week the DFF launched a campaign against mandatory “away cards” – a proposal the Danish League Association have made due to safety and security concerns. So why is the DFF fighting this decision?
The background for the decision goes back to 2012, where a match on March 3rd between Aalborg Boldklub and FC Copenhagen made media headlines, with lots of pyro and almost riot looking footage from the away section. The Ministry of Justice, the Danish FA, the police, the clubs and the fans then came together, and agreed to work on a plan to secure better football experiences for everyone. In the joint plan a “common entry system” was suggested as a possible action point. Ever since then the focus in Danish security aspects has been on dialogue. Police are being trained as special event police and using dialogue as a tool; SLOs are being introduced in the Danish Super League and an ongoing dialogue and cooperation is happening with the supporters.
CEO Daniela Wurbs acted as speaker at the final panel of the conference, ending after two days with presentations on various academic research projects regarding fan involvement in club governance.

The Committee members discussed with the FSE Coordinating Office about current actions and future plans such as the EFFC 2015 taking place in Belfast from 3rd to 5th July. Here the next steps are to fix the agenda and book venues as well as accommodation for all members and fellow supporters attending the EFFC. This will be done jointly by an organizing team of around 20 committed FSE members who are working on this already now.

Therefore, first of all, we want to express our sincere condolences towards his bereaved family members and friends, our thoughts are with them.
In the light of effects of disciplinary sanctions imposed with matches behind closed doors just played at Steaua Bucharest vs Aalborg and CSKA Moscow vs Bayern Munich on thousands of innocent supporters, FSE urges UEFA to reconsider its disciplinary regulations. As Football Supporters Europe (FSE), we believe that the new, toughened regulations seeking to combat racism are more likely to be harmful than effective in the long run for the fight against discrimination in football.
