We are shocked and devastated in view of the sudden death of a good friend and coordinator of the Belgium Fans’ Embassy, Erik Reynaerts. He has been a founding member of Belgian Supporters, he was the Supporter Liaison Officer of the Belgian Football Association, long-time fan activist and above all he will be remembered as a cheerful and passionate human being. Erik died today, on Monday, 27 June 2016, following a severe heart attack after yesterday's match.
Our thoughts are with his family and loved ones now. We wish them all the strength, unity and love required to help them through these coming days and weeks of grief and sorrow.
As Football Supporters Europe (FSE), we are hereby documenting the statement from our members from the Fenerbahce supporters group 1907 ÜNIFEB on travel bans issued against all Fenerbahce supporters for their Champions League qualifying match against AS Monaco on 3rd August 2016:
The three day conference which received support by various partners and the City of Izmir, and will see more than 500 football fans and officials from across Europe, the US and South America taking part, thereby making it the biggest international gathering of this kind ever hosted in the country.
The group stage of EURO 2016 showed that much fewer problems occurred wherever authorities cooperated constructively with leading fan groups from the Fans Embassies as part of the solution and facilitated a good atmosphere for the majority, especially at high-risk matches. We call for a reinforcement of a sincere dialogue with supporters’ representatives in order to foster the early prevention of troubles for the rest of this UEFA EURO 2016.
